Claim: CNN is "a mainstream, nonpartisan media outlet."

Who said it: The authors of the Politico Playbook newsletter published Wednesday morning.

Context: The Politico journalists were discussing how Gov. Ron DeSantis (R., Fla.) had hoped to overcome "a deluge of negative headlines" and "hit the reset button" by taking part in "a rare sitdown interview with a mainstream, nonpartisan media outlet: CNN."

However, the journalists wrote, DeSantis's big plans were thwarted by former president Donald Trump, who "stole the headlines" on Tuesday by announcing that he may soon face charges in connection with the storming of the U.S. Capitol building on Jan. 6, 2021.

More context: The "deluge of negative headlines" about Ron DeSantis were published in so-called mainstream media outlets such as Politico and CNN that desperately want Trump to be the Republican presidential nominee in 2024.

CNN, for example, enjoyed soaring ratings and record profits during Trump's presidency. Ratings and profits have plummeted since President Joe Biden took office in 2021. Accordingly, Trump does not have to work very hard to steal headlines in media outlets desperate to write about him.

Why it matters: Most "mainstream" journalists are Democratic activists who falsely present themselves as "nonpartisan" arbiters of truth. It is important to hold them accountable for their lies.

Analysis: The facts do not support the claim that CNN is a "nonpartisan media outlet." Such an outlet would not employ a professional fact-checker who spends all his time fact-checking Trump and various right-wing Facebook memes while ignoring the gibberish routinely spouted by President Biden, the most powerful politician in the world.

• Chris Licht, the network's former CEO, tried to make CNN less partisan. It cost him his job.

• Given CNN's precipitous ratings decline, it seems like a stretch even to describe the network as "mainstream."

Go deeper: CNN Is a Clown Network Run By Creeps.

Verdict: We rate this claim 4 Fiery But Mostly Peaceful Clintons.

What happened: On this day (July 19) in 1969, Mary Jo Kopechne drowned in Sen. Ted Kennedy's (D., Mass.) car after the notorious philandering boozehound drove it off a bridge on Chappaquiddick island.

What happened next: Nothing. Kennedy, the youngest brother of former president John F. Kennedy, fled the scene of the accident, which likely occurred sometime after midnight. He did not report it to police until 10 a.m. the following day.

• The Democratic scion faced no meaningful consequences for his actions and would go on to serve four more decades in the U.S. Senate until his death in 2009.

• Even in the post-#MeToo era, Democrats generally regard him as a legendary figure worthy of reverence and respect. The Kennedy family featured prominently at the 2020 Democratic National Convention, as did notorious sex pest Bill Clinton.

Waitress sandwich: In reality, Kennedy was a disgusting human being. GQ magazine recounted one (of presumably many) incidents in which the senator behaved disgracefully.

• One evening in 1985, Kennedy and Sen. Chris Dodd (D., Conn.) were very drunk and wrapping up dinner with their dates—"two very young blondes"—who had just gone to the bathroom.

• The senators called for their waitress, Carla Gaviglio, who entered the private dining area and was immediately ambushed, GQ reported.

• Kennedy grabbed the diminutive waitress and threw her on the table, shattering plates and glasses. He then threw Gaviglio on top of Dodd's lap and began "rubbing his genital area against hers."

What they're saying: "I would not get in a car driven by a member of [the Kennedy] family, let alone let them run the government," writes journalist Josh Barro.

Bottom line: The Kennedys are terrible and always have been. They have no place in American politics.

COLLUSION? ]]>
What happened: The U.S. Food and Drug Administration granted full approval to a new Alzheimer's treatment on July 6, less than three months after President Joe Biden formally announced his candidacy for reelection.

• Leqembi is the first new Alzheimer's treatment fully approved by the FDA in 20 years, and the first drug that slows progression of the cognitive disease.

• The FDA granted "accelerated approval" for Leqembi in January 2023, roughly three months after Biden attempted to converse with a dead congresswoman at a White House nutrition conference.

• The FDA is a federal agency housed within the Department of Health and Human Services, which is run by a presidential appointee. The timing of the drug's approval raises some troubling questions about government collusion and election interference.

SILVER ALERT: Biden's Bumbles Hit New Low

Why it matters: This is great news for Biden's reelection campaign. Leqembi has been shown to "modestly slow the pace of cognitive decline" in Alzheimer's patients, according to the New York Times.

• A modest reduction may well suffice. Biden, 80, just needs to remain minimally upright and competent until Election Day on Nov. 5, 2024.

• In phase 3 clinical trials, patients taking Leqembi experienced a 27 percent slower rate of decline compared with the placebo group.

• Side effects include brain swelling, seizures, and death.

Crucial context: Biden reportedly has been prone to violent temper tantrums since taking office, which is a common symptom of Alzheimer's and other forms of cognitive decline.

• Biden's cognitive decline was likely exacerbated by his failure to properly treat his longstanding sleep apnea, the Washington Free Beacon reported in June.

Bottom line: Biden should be resting comfortably at home, surrounded by friends and family. Not running for reelection.

What happened: Bill de Blasio, the widely reviled former mayor of New York City, announced that he and Chirlane McCray, his lesbian wife of nearly 30 years, are separating.

• The couple does not plan to get a divorce and will date other people while continuing to live together in their Park Slope townhouse.

• De Blasio and McCray discussed their unusual relationship status in a three-hour interview with the New York Times.

What they're saying: "For the guy who took the chance on a woman who was an out lesbian and wrote an article called 'I Am a Lesbian,'" de Blasio said in the interview, "there was a part of me that would at times say, 'Hmmm, is this like a time bomb ticking? Is this something that you're going to regret later on?' So I always lived with that stuff."

What we found: An extensive Washington Free Beacon investigation has uncovered what appear to be several online dating profiles belonging to the single-and-ready-to-mingle former mayor, whose résumé also includes failed campaigns for president and the U.S. Congress.

What happened: Hunter Biden, the wayward adult son of President Joe Biden, agreed to give his out-of-wedlock daughter several paintings in lieu of the child support payments he claims to be unable to afford.

• Despite being an artist of underwhelming talent, Hunter has sold paintings for as much as $500,000 to anonymous buyers.

• President Biden refuses to acknowledge his granddaughter's existence and has reportedly instructed White House staff to do the same.

Rogue gallery: These are the paintings Hunter's daughter will receive in lieu of cash, according to documents recovered from an iPad the Washington Free Beacon exclusively found on the floor of the men's bathroom at Archibald's Gentleman's Club in Washington, D.C., several blocks from the White House. Enjoy!

1)

Context: An email recovered from Hunter's abandoned laptop said the "big guy" was to receive a 10 percent stake in a sketchy investment deal involving a Chinese energy firm in 2017.

2)

Context: Hunter has claimed to have "no recollection" of his sexual encounter with his daughter's mother, Lunden Alexis Roberts, but admits to cavorting with dozens if not hundreds (thousands?) of women who were "hardly the dating type."

3)

Context: Hunter Biden smoked copious amounts of crack cocaine.

4)

Context: Hunter wrote eloquently about how good it feels to get high from crack cocaine in his 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things. "The sensation is one of utter, almost otherworldly well-being," he explained. "You are at once energetic, focused, and calm. Blood rushes to every extremity; your skin ripples with what feels like bumblebees ... the sensation of being transported—at something like warp speed, as if riding bareback on a rocket ship—to some far-off, beautiful place."

5)

Context: Hunter once described his stepmother, Dr. Jill Biden, as a "selfish silly entitled c—t" who "wouldn't survive one class in a ivy [sic] graduate program."

6)

Context: The Secret Service still can't figure out who left a bag of cocaine in one of the most secure locations in the White House earlier this month.

7)

Context: Located a short walk from the White House, Archibald's is Hunter's happy place. He spent enormous sums of money at the gentleman's entertainment club over the years and wrote it off as a business expense on his taxes. Hunter was once admonished for smoking crack in one of the VIP rooms. Good times.

President Joe Biden went to Europe this week, where he pretended to be in charge of the world's most powerful country. It did not go according to plan.

Biden, 80, might have accidentally wandered off to join the riots in Paris had his numerous handlers and nursemaids not repeatedly told him where to go. Efforts to control the president's public statements were often thwarted by his cognitively impaired brain.

For example, Biden praised NATO as "the 30-second free standing, have free 30 free," whatever the hell that means. He fell down some stairs, bumbled around London with King Charles III, a.k.a. "Sausage Fingers," and took off his shirt to soak up some rays on the beach. It was disturbing.

Have a great weekend!

HERO OF THE WEEK: CNN's Jake Tapper Toasts Demise of Affirmative Action at All-White Dinner Party https://freebeacon.com/media/jake-tapper-white-supremacy/ Fri, 14 Jul 2023 19:50:24 +0000 https://freebeacon.com/?p=1766979 Jake Tapper, the CNN host best known for not being fired during the Chris Licht era purge of partisan hacks, was spotted at a non-inclusive, racially insensitive dinner party with a bunch of celebrities in Idaho.

The post HERO OF THE WEEK: CNN's Jake Tapper Toasts Demise of Affirmative Action at All-White Dinner Party appeared first on Washington Free Beacon.

]]>
What happened: Jake Tapper, the CNN host best known for not being fired during the Chris Licht era purge of partisan hacks, was spotted at a non-inclusive, racially insensitive dinner party with a bunch of celebrities in Idaho.

• Celebrity actress Kristen Bell earlier this week posted a photo on Instagram featuring Tapper and his wife, Jennifer Marie Brown, enjoying a fancy dinner at the South Fork Lodge in Idaho.

• They were joined by a large group of celebrity couples, nearly all of them proud members of the white race.

• Social media users were stunned that the rich and socially enlightened liberal celebs would engage in such a flagrant act of white supremacy.

What they're saying: "Serious question for well-meaning white people. When you show up at a get-together like this, do you notice there are zero Black people, or nah?" wrote Twitter user Jay Perkins, a biracial black man and "antiracist" higher ed lawyer. "If so, do you say or do anything about it? To who? Please be honest. This is a safe space (unless you say something dumb or racist)."

What it means: The racially homogenous partygoers were most likely celebrating the Supreme Court's June 29 decision striking down race-based affirmative action in college admissions, an outcome backed by the vast majority of Americans.

• There appears to have been only one non-white celebrity couple in attendance. David Chang, the Korean-American restaurateur, was spotted at the dinner with his wife Grace, a Korean-born immigrant.

• The Supreme Court's ruling found that race-based affirmative action in college admissions violated the Constitution because it explicitly discriminated against Koreans and other students of Asian descent.

By the numbers: More than 82 percent of Idaho's population is white, according the U.S. Census Bureau, making it one of the whitest states in the country.

• The celebrity dinner party was even whiter. At least 90 percent of the guests were white, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

• Approximately 0 percent of the guests were black, meaning the dinner party was demographically equivalent to a Pete Buttigieg campaign rally.

White power party: In addition to the Tappers, a bunch of other fancy white people attended the now-notorious dinner party in Idaho.

Jennifer Aniston, star of Friends, one of the whitest shows ever made; Courteney Cox, star of Friends, and boyfriend Johnny McDaid of Snow Patrol, one the whitest bands in the world; Jason Bateman, host of the all-white podcast SmartLess, and his white wife; art gallery owners Heather Taylor and Alex De Cordoba; actress Shiri Appleby and restaurateur Jon Shook; Jimmy Kimmel and wife; Jimmy Fallon and wife; Kristen Bell and Dax Shepard; comedian John Mulaney and his half-Vietnamese mistress Olivia Munn; David Chang and wife; actor Adam Scott and wife; YouTube celeb Mark Rober; improvisational comedian Tim Curcio and wife.

Why it matters: At a time when many of our nation's journalists insist on touting the so-called benefits of diversity and inclusion, we applaud Tapper's courageous decision to reject phony moral values and embrace the "taboo" of "white racial solidarity."

• There's simply nothing wrong with a rich white journalist wanting to hang out with a bunch of rich white people (and a handful of Asians) at a fancy lodge in Idaho. It's a free country.

• The vast majority of Americans oppose the explicit racial preferences struck down by the Supreme Court. If that is indeed what the mostly white partygoers were celebrating, there's nothing wrong with that, either.

Bottom line: For rejecting diversity and refusing to live his life according to the "enlightened" moral code espoused by his colleagues in the corporate media, Jake Tapper is the Washington Free Beacon Hero of the Week.

What happened: President Joe Biden terrifies White House aides with his "quick-trigger temper" and expletive-filled rants, Axios reported on Monday.

• Examples of the president's foul-mouthed eruptions include: "God dammit, how the f—k don't you know this?!" "Don't f—king bulls—t me!" and "Get the f—k out of here!"

• Biden's temper tantrums are so bad some staff members "try to avoid meeting alone with him."

What it means: Increased anger and agitation are common symptoms of dementia and Alzheimer's disease, according to the National Institute on Aging (NIA).

• "People with Alzheimer’s disease may become agitated or aggressive as the disease gets worse," the NIA advises Alzheimer's caregivers on its website. "Try not to ignore the problem. Doing nothing can make things worse."

Why it matters: Biden, 80, is running for a second four-year term as president of the United States. Concerned citizens have repeatedly expressed alarm over the state of his physical and mental health.

• The president suffered a near-fatal fall last month at the Air Force Academy graduation ceremony in Colorado. Falls are the leading cause of injury-related death among Americans over the age of 65.

• In September of 2022, Biden attempted to converse with a congresswoman who died a month earlier. That episode is merely one of the most memorable examples of his innumerable brain-related gaffes.

• Biden may have exacerbated his risk of cognitive decline by neglecting to properly treat his longstanding sleep apnea, the Washington Free Beacon reported in June.

• Tucker Carlson heard members of Biden's family say "out loud that he had dementia," the former Fox News host told journalist Steve Krakauer.

Crucial context: Axios cofounder Jim VandeHei is also prone to fits of rage.

Be smart: Biden is not qualified to serve as commander in chief, and neither is Vice President Kamala Harris. Some of his allies are clearly worried he might die or become too incoherent to function on the campaign trail, which is why we are seeing leaks about his (probably) dementia-related temper, along with op-eds in the Atlantic urging the president to step aside in 2024.

Bottom line: Uh oh.

Welcome to the 50th installment of Senior Moments starring President Joe Biden, the gimp that keeps on gimping.

It was a pretty ordinary week for the octogenarian president. He displayed a level of incoherence that could only be rivaled perhaps by Sen. John Fetterman (D., Pa.), a recovering stroke victim.

Biden touted the benefits of "wrlfghfv" for U.S. foreign policy, struggled to pronounce the word "technical," and repeatedly failed to grasp basic numerical concepts such as hundred, thousand, million, and billion.

The oldest president in American history also celebrated a momentous birthday of sorts. According to the Washington Free Beacon's proprietary age-tracking technology, Sleepy Joe turned 80 years, 8 months, 8 days, 8 hours, 8 minutes, and 8 seconds old on Thursday afternoon.

Have a great weekend!

Was Hunter Framed? The post Was Hunter Framed? Second Suspect Emerges in WH Cocaine Scandal appeared first on Washington Free Beacon.

]]>
What happened: New evidence raises the possibility that President Joe Biden's adult son Hunter, a known drug addict, was not responsible for the cocaine discovered at the White House on Sunday.

• A second viable suspect has emerged as the Biden administration continues to revise its story regarding the location of the illegal drugs.

Crucial context: The White House initially claimed the cocaine was found in a highly trafficked area of the White House where "visitors taking tours of the West Wing are instructed to leave their cellphones." That was a lie.

• The drugs were actually found in a highly secure area of the White House "near the Situation Room," a place where "average people just can't get in" that also happens to be "where the vice president's vehicle is parked."

Who dunnit: The cocaine's proximity to Vice President Kamala Harris's vehicle raises some troubling questions in light of her history prosecuting drug cases as San Francisco district attorney.

The case for Kamala: Harris's political career was nearly upended by a cocaine-related scandal in 2010, when a California state judge ruled that Harris failed to share information she was required to disclose to defense attorneys.

• Weeks after one of Harris's top deputies in the San Francisco district attorney's office expressed concern about the reliability of a crime lab technician, the technician was busted for taking "cocaine from the lab, possibly tainting evidence and raising concerns about hundreds of cases."

• Harris had a moral and professional obligation to disclose this information to defense attorneys representing clients charged with drug-related offenses linked to the delinquent lab technician. She neglected to do so and was credibly accused of having "systematically violated defendants' civil and constitutional rights."

• After being reprimanded by the state judge, Harris was forced to dismiss roughly 1,000 drug-related cases, many of which had already resulted in convictions.

Mounting evidence: Kamala's former lover, Willie Brown, went out of his way to defend a wealthy San Francisco coke dealer indicted for trafficking hundreds of kilos of the illegal substance.

• While serving as speaker of the California state assembly in the mid-1980s, Brown appeared in court as an attorney for Lester "White Boy" Smith, a Ferrari salesman and notorious suburban drug dealer. Smith was arrested for attempting to buy 220 pounds of cocaine from undercover officers.

• Smith faced a potential life sentence, but Brown pleaded for leniency and requested a four-year prison term for the "model young man" who "made a stupid mistake." Smith was subsequently arrested again for dealing drugs after his release on $3 million bail. He was ultimately convicted and sentenced to 27 years in prison.

• Harris dated Brown from 1994 to 1995, shortly before he was elected mayor of San Francisco. Brown admitted to boosting Harris's career by appointing her to highly compensated positions on California state commissions. "I certainly helped with her first race for district attorney in San Francisco," Brown wrote in a 2019 op-ed, the same year he was honored with a Washington Free Beacon Man of the Year award.

Bottom line: Harris has a problematic history when it comes to cocaine. She occasionally cackles like a cokehead. The drugs were found near her vehicle. Coincidence?

Be smart: It was definitely Hunter's cocaine.

EXCLUSIVE: Here's What Don Lemon and Jeff Zucker Discussed on Vacation in Italy https://freebeacon.com/media/exclusive-lemon-zucker-italy/ Thu, 06 Jul 2023 19:50:25 +0000 https://freebeacon.com/?p=1762803 Don Lemon, the disgraced former CNN host, was spotted having dinner in Italy with Jeff Zucker, the disgraced former CNN president.

The post EXCLUSIVE: Here's What Don Lemon and Jeff Zucker Discussed on Vacation in Italy appeared first on Washington Free Beacon.

]]>
What happened: Don Lemon, the disgraced former CNN host, was spotted having dinner in Italy with Jeff Zucker, the disgraced former CNN president.

• The pair enjoyed a sunset dinner on Ponza, a swanky island enclave near the Amalfi Coast, while attending the wedding of Hollywood talent agent Jay Sures. They were joined by Lemon's husband, Tim Malone, and Zucker's mistress, Allison Gollust.

Why it matters: Zucker and Lemon are rumored to be "plotting a bid for the embattled network," according to the Daily Mail.

Crucial context: CNN's ratings have persistently declined since former president Donald Trump left office.

• Zucker was ousted in early 2021 for failing to disclose his relationship with Gollust, a subordinate executive.

• Chris Licht, who succeeded Zucker as network president, was fired last month for attempting to purge CNN of left-wing partisan hackery.

• Lemon, a partisan hack, was fired in April for being an obnoxious misogynist.

What they're saying: The Washington Free Beacon has semi-legally obtained a recording of Zucker and Lemon's dinner conversation in Italy. What follows is a partial transcript of that conversation. Please enjoy responsibly.

DON LEMON: I don't believe you. [laughing]

JEFF ZUCKER: Never happened. Why? Did you guys have a three-way with Chris Cuomo?

LEMON: F— off! [laughing]

TIM MALONE: Too much roid rage.

LEMON: I bet you'd be up for it though, right? Chris and Andrew at the same time. Jeff can watch.

ALLISON GOLLUST: Hard pass. [laughter]

LEMON: Well, clearly your standards are low.

ZUCKER: Clearly?

LEMON: What are you, late 50s?

GOLLUST: I'll be 51 in October, thanks for asking.

LEMON: Same age as Nikki Haley. Just saying. [laughing]

GOLLUST: I beg your pardon?

LEMON: Pre- or post-menopause? You know I'm fascinated by this stuff.

GOLLUST: We know.

ZUCKER: Calm down, Don.

WAITRESS: More wine, signore?

ZUCKER: Yes, please.

LEMON: Ah sì, I like-ah s'more-ah wine-ah. [laughing]

MALONE: Slay.

WAITRESS: Sì, signore.

LEMON: What's your name, doll?

WAITRESS: Giovanna.

LEMON: Yo quiero three cube-ohs de ice-o.

WAITRESS: Ice cubes for the wine?

LEMON: Three.

WAITRESS: Certo.

LEMON: You speak English, right?

WAITRESS: Yes.

LEMON: How many fingers am I holding up?

WAITRESS: Three, signore.

ZUCKER: Don, let's talk.

LEMON: Hold on, Zuck. Excuse me? [snaps fingers]

WAITRESS: Sì, signore.

LEMON: What are you doing?

WAITRESS: Bringing more water for—

LEMON: Excuse me. I thought you said you understand English.

WAITRESS: Yes.

LEMON: Were you listening five seconds ago? I asked you to bring me three ice cubes for the wine. Tres ice cubes. This many. Three.

WAITRESS: Of course, signore.

LEMON: No, I meant right now. Bring them now. Not after you fill up her water or flaunt your tits at Guido over there.

MALONE: He's a celebrity. I'm sure you understand.

WAITRESS: Certo.

LEMON: No, I'm not sure she does understand.

ZUCKER: Don, let it go. We have business to discuss.

LEMON: In a minute. You, girl, come here. [snaps fingers]

ZUCKER: This is why they fired him.

GOLLUST: Yeah, that and his crappy ratings.

LEMON: See these driving moccasins? They're Italian, like you. [laughing]

WAITRESS: Yes, I see.

LEMON: Cordovan leather. How much do you think they cost?

WAITRESS: I don't know.

LEMON: Of course you wouldn't know. But I want you to guess. How much?

WAITRESS: Your shoes are very nice, signore.

LEMON: I'm sorry. No, lay off, Zuck. She's speaking English, so I know she understands.

WAITRESS: Yes, I understand.

LEMON: I am telling you to guess how much you think I paid for these Italian leather driving moccasins. Guess.

WAITRESS: One thousand.

LEMON: A thousand. [laughing]

MALONE: As if. [laughing]

GOLLUST: Good, she's going.

ZUCKER: Finally.

LEMON: Four thousand five hundred. Euros. Where'd she go?

ZUCKER: To get your ice cubes. Now, sit down, Don. As you know, I'm putting together a bid for CNN. That Polish prick Zaslav is in over his head. We hear he'd happily let it go for pennies. Do you want in on the action?

LEMON: You know I do. This face belongs on television.

ZUCKER: I agree, but no more female cohosts. That was a disaster.

LEMON: Women don't get my sense of humor.

ZUCKER: They clearly don't. We need to get a lineup together.

LEMON: Let's do it. When I got fired I went out to the Hamptons and took a bunch of ayahuasca. Between that and the intermittent fasting, I came up with a ton of good ideas.

ZUCKER: I'm sure you did. So a few things are already locked in. Andrew and Chris are filming a pilot next week for Cuomo and Cuomo.

LEMON: Kinky.

ZUCKER: Shut up. Stelter has agreed to lose 80 pounds so he can hide in the bushes at Mar-a-Lago and try to get some voyeur shots of Trump taking a dump. We gotta do something to get the ratings up.

LEMON: I love it.

ZUCKER: Hunter Biden has been in touch about a special correspondent role.

LEMON: Nice.

MALONE: He's really hot for his age.

ZUCKER: We could send him on an art tour of the Gulf states, or to investigate illicit prostitution in European capitals. We'll figure something out. Those were his ideas.

LEMON: Here's what I was thinking. The White Face Chronicles.

ZUCKER: Go on.

LEMON: Don Lemon goes undercover as a straight white man to expose the racist underbelly of American society.

ZUCKER: Sure. Let's table that for now. What else you got?

LEMON: Tears of Equity: Billionaire businessman Don Lemon travels back in time to lead a slave rebellion in South Carolina. But he's too successful, right? He ends up freeing all the slaves and the Civil War never happens, and Barack Obama's white ancestors are killed in the uprising, so Don Lemon becomes America's first black president.

ZUCKER: Okay.

LEMON: But then the real Barack Obama travels back in time to stop Don Lemon from killing his family. At first they fight, but then they fall in love.

ZUCKER: Yeah, that's pretty interesting.

WAITRESS: Your ice cubes, signore.

LEMON: Are you serious right now? These are round. Do you not know what a cube looks like, you stupid bitch?

The Cruelty Is the Point: Biden Orders WH Staff to Deny Granddaughter's Existence https://freebeacon.com/biden-administration/the-cruelty-is-the-point-biden-orders-wh-staff-to-deny-granddaughters-existence/ Wed, 05 Jul 2023 21:15:22 +0000 https://freebeacon.com/?p=1762011 Biden claims to be a devoted "family man," but his persistent refusal to acknowledge his granddaughter's existence raises troubling questions about his capacity for human kindness and paternal love.

The post The Cruelty Is the Point: Biden Orders WH Staff to Deny Granddaughter's Existence appeared first on Washington Free Beacon.

]]>
What happened: The New York Times published a heart-wrenching profile of the four-year-old granddaughter President Joe Biden has persistently refused to acknowledge.

• "In strategy meetings in recent years, aides have been told that the Bidens have six, not seven, grandchildren," the Times revealed.

• The child was determined to be Hunter Biden's following a lengthy court battle in Arkansas. The little girl is reportedly aware and "proud" of the fact that her paternal grandfather is president of the United States.

• The story was posted on the Saturday of the July 4th long weekend, which suggests the Times did not actually want many people to read it.

Why it matters: Biden claims to be a devoted "family man," but his persistent refusal to acknowledge his granddaughter's existence raises troubling questions about his capacity for human kindness and paternal love.

Crucial context: Hunter recently reached a confidential settlement with the girl's mother, Lunden Alexis Roberts, which will reduce his monthly child-support payments. Hunter had challenged their initial agreement, claiming a lack of funds.

• As part of the new agreement, Roberts agreed to drop her request to change her daughter's last name to Biden. In lieu of additional cash payments, Hunter will give the child several of his so-called paintings, which have sold to anonymous buyers for as much as $500,000 in recent years.

What they're saying: "I have six grandchildren. And I’m crazy about them. And I speak to them every single day," President Biden told a group of children in April.

• "[L]et us remember that family is life’s greatest blessing and responsibility; that we owe it to ourselves and our loved ones to make the most of our precious time together; and that our Nation would not be where it is today without our beloved fathers and father figures," Biden said last month in a Father's Day proclamation.

• Hunter Biden claimed to have "no recollection" of a romantic encounter with Roberts, who was "hardly the dating type," he wrote in his 2021 memoir, Beautiful Things. Shortly after his daughter's birth in November 2018, Hunter removed Roberts and the child from his health insurance.

• "I'm very proud of my son," Biden told reporters recently in response to questions about Hunter.

Bottom line: All children deserve to be loved.

President Joe Biden, 80, is not long for this world. Good thing he picked such a competent and qualified vice president to succeed him.

Kamala Harris speaks confidently, but not always coherently. "Let's always take a moment to also see what we have achieved thus far, while we clearly see the moment that we are presently in," she recently told a group of abortion enthusiasts.

It's a lovely example of Harris's signature rhetorical style, killing time at the podium as though she's been instructed to keep the crowd minimally engaged because the keynote speaker is stuck in traffic.

We're never getting rid of Stacey Abrams. The celebrity Democrat from Georgia—best known for denying the results of the 2018 gubernatorial election and losing again in 2022 by a margin (7.5 percentage points) too big to deny—is all but certain to run again in the near future.

Why wouldn't she? Liberal donors seem eager to keep giving her tens of millions of dollars to lose elections while enriching herself and her friends. There are few things Abrams's core supporters (rich white liberals) love more than hearing a black woman complain about racism and so-called voter suppression.

Until then, Abrams must content herself with raising money for her shady nonprofits, working for a dark money activist group lobbying to ban gan stoves, and going on MSNBC to talk about her new crime novel.

Rogue Justice: A Thriller is the second installment in a series starring the thoroughly obnoxious and improbable protagonist Avery Keene. The first installment, While Justice Sleeps: A Thriller, topped the New York Times bestseller list upon its release in May 2021. Several weeks earlier, Abrams helped engineer a corporate boycott of her own state that prompted Major League Baseball to move its All-Star Game from Atlanta to Denver after Georgia enacted an election reform bill critics denounced as "voter suppression." NBCUniversal, the same company that paid Chelsea Clinton $600,000 a year for "journalism," immediately bought the television rights.

Your humble reviewer quickly realized that reading While Justice Sleeps would give him a better sense of whatever the hell is going on in Rogue Justice. For instance: How (and why) did the president of the United States commit "treason, murder, and genocide," and why is he still in office? In any event, it wasn't worth it. Abrams the politician is a cartoonishly corrupt charlatan. Abrams the author is a massive nerd with a fondness for bureaucratic acronyms and tedious exposition that made your humble reviewer long for the resplendent prose stylings of former FBI director James Comey.

Some liberal politicians and their supporters are easily caricatured as overly credentialed homework lovers who think all the world's problems could be solved through diligent research and expert analysis. Barack Obama, Pete Buttigieg, and Elizabeth Warren come to mind. Avery Keene is a caricature of this caricature. The preternatural genius started making money in middle school by "completing homework for overprivileged, lazy kids." She overcame her father's death and mother's addiction to graduate from Spelman College and Yale Law. (Abrams's alma maters, natch.)

In Rogue Justice, Avery is a 28-year-old Supreme Court clerk who excels at "copious and obnoxiously thorough research." Puzzles are her "happy place." She uses her "once-in-a-generation mind" and "eidetic memory" to uncover international criminal conspiracies and occasionally to win huge sums at blackjack that are "duly reported on her taxes." Avery is a notorious figure now, having exposed the genocidal traitor, President Brandon Stokes, who is obviously a Republican. Nevertheless, she is concerned that her heroic exploits have ruined her career prospects. (Some context: Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Vindman, a bureaucrat no one had heard of until he testified against former president Donald Trump, was a guest on practically every talk show and starred in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm.)

The hero is called into action once again when a federal court clerk in South Dakota stumbles upon a deadly conspiracy and (naturally) seeks out Keene, whom he has never met, for advice. He is gunned down on the streets of Washington, D.C., moments later. Homework assignment in hand, Avery embarks on a thrilling campaign of "copious and obnoxiously thorough research" to uncover the global conspiracy and the mastermind behind it. Indeed, most of the book's plot unfolds via Avery explaining her findings to various groups of supporting characters, from her "military-trained security expert" boyfriend to the entire U.S. intelligence community.

Avery must utilize her genius brain to figure out how FISC, FERC, NERC, OLEC, ERCOT, MISO, and the Feres Doctrine fit together in a mysterious scheme to wreak havoc on the United States for motives that remain unclear. The (confoundingly improbable) answer raises a number of annoying questions, such as, "WTF?" and "What if the villain is actually good (despite murdering innocent people), and the real bad guys are the racist Republicans?"

There's a #MeToo angle, obviously. Cryptocurrency makes an appearance, as does an ex-Mossad assassin Avery manages to subdue after watching some YouTube videos about judo locks and choke-hold escapes. She really is amazing. While conducting her research to save the world, Avery also finds the time to finish an actual homework assignment on ransomware for the chief justice of the Supreme Court and checks in on a friend she rescued from the throes of addiction.

Rogue Justice is a must-read for anyone interested in detailed explanations of the U.S. power grid and surveillance court system. Readers who enjoy characters who act "assiduously" and speak "sardonically" will be similarly thrilled. Observers of Stacey Abrams will be intrigued by the author's voluminous knowledge of tax havens and non-extradition countries. The book depicts a political world in which everyone is obsessed with money and luxury. Bribes are offered and accepted, earmarks deployed to rig elections, favors called in to get dumb relatives into exclusive universities, jealousy vented about former colleagues making higher salaries. Notwithstanding the impeccable protagonist, Rogue Justice is awash with shameless grifters trying to move up in the world and make their bag.

Write what you know.

It was a great week for America on the eve of her 247th birthday. The Supreme Court ruled that so-called elite universities could no longer treat vulnerable and historically marginalized Asian students like second-class citizens. The 6-3 decision was a victory for the vast majority of Americans who oppose race-based affirmative action in college admissions.

Alas, it was not a good week for President Joe Biden, a supporter of anti-Asian discrimination. The high court concurred with Nancy Pelosi's assessment that Biden lacked the authority to cancel student debt without the consent of Congress, and the president's staff once again failed to prevent him from opening his mouth in public.

On multiple occasions, Biden said Russian strongman Vladimir Putin was "losing the war in Iraq." He suggested he "may be peaking" with Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss the actual war that Putin is losing in Ukraine, and confessed to selling "state secrets" during a meeting with Indian prime minister Narendra Modi.

Most concerningly, Biden barely made it through a softball interview with MSNBC's Nicolle Wallace, who giggled like a giddy tween as the president spouted garbled nonsense about the American Civil War of "1960" and wandered off set while the cameras were still rolling like an escaped nursing home patient chasing an ice cream truck.

We also learned that Biden has started wearing a CPAP machine to treat his longstanding sleep apnea, which puts him at increased risk of dementia, cognitive decline, and death.

On that note: Happy Independence Day! God Bless America!

Like it or not (and most Americans do not), Kamala Harris may soon be promoted to commander in chief. We might as well familiarize ourselves with her unique rhetorical style. The way she praises "small businesses owners," scolds young people for thinking they "just fell out of a coconut tree," and boasts of being a "gumbo apprentice."

]]>
What happened: Elizabeth Warren, the U.S. senator once described as the "first woman of color" at Harvard Law School, lamented the demise of affirmative action in university admissions.

• The Supreme Court on Thursday ruled that race-based affirmative action policies at Harvard and the University of North Carolina violated the Equal Protection Clause of the Constitution.

• Warren argued that the "extremist" Court's decision, supported by the vast majority of Americans, "rolled back the march toward racial justice, and narrowed educational opportunity for all."

Crucial context: Warren, a former Harvard professor sometimes referred to as "Pocahontas," repeatedly claimed to be of Native American ancestry throughout her career in academia. She is roughly 0.1 percent Native American, according to the results of a DNA test the senator released in 2018 ahead of her failed presidential run.

• From a Fordham Law Review article published in 1997: "Harvard Law School hired its first woman of color, Elizabeth Warren, in 1995."

Bottom line: The Court's decision is bad news for white people who lie about their race to get ahead. People like Elizabeth Warren.

Legitimacy Restored: Supreme Court Ends Affirmative Action, Outcome Backed by Vast Majority of Americans https://freebeacon.com/courts/supreme-court-affirmative-action/ Thu, 29 Jun 2023 17:10:30 +0000 https://freebeacon.com/?p=1760082 The Supreme Court ruled that universities can't use race-based affirmative action. ]]>
What happened: The U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Thursday that universities can no longer use the controversial practice of race-based affirmative action as part of their admissions processes.

• The 6-3 opinion argued that race-based admissions programs at Harvard and the University of North Carolina run afoul of the Equal Protection Clause of the U.S. Constitution because they "unavoidably employ race in a negative manner, involve racial stereotyping, and lack meaningful end points."

Why it matters: Some have argued the Supreme Court faces a "crisis of legitimacy" because its opinions do not always reflect the views of the American public. By this standard, the Court's decision to strike down race-based affirmative action is laudably legitimate.

• The vast majority of Americans, including a majority of Democrats, oppose race-based affirmative action in university admissions, polls show.

By the numbers: More than two-thirds of Americans say colleges and universities should not use race as a factor in admission, according to the New York Times. Opposition to affirmative action is slightly higher when respondents are asked about public universities funded by taxpayers.

• Americans oppose affirmative action at public colleges and universities by an overwhelming margin of 74 percent to 26 percent.

• A solid majority of Democrats agree: Sixty percent said they oppose race-based admissions at public universities, while 58 percent said the same about private universities.

What they're saying: "The opinion today will serve only to highlight the Court's own impotence in the face of an America whose cries for equality resound," Justice Sonia Sotomayor wrote in a dissenting opinion.

• Alas, the American public appears to have a different definition of "equality."

Bottom line: The Supreme Court's legitimate decision to end race-based affirmative action is an accurate reflection of the American public's views. Congratulations!

President Joe Biden began using a CPAP machine "in recent weeks" to treat the sleep apnea he has suffered from since at least 2008, ABC News reported Wednesday. This new detail about Biden's health, revealed after observers noticed an unusual indentation on his face, suggests the octogenarian president has put himself at increased risk of dementia and cognitive decline.

Biden has suffered from sleep apnea since at least 2008, when Politico reported that Biden "has suffered from atrial fibrillation, or an irregular heartbeat," which doctors said was probably "linked to Biden's reoccurring problem of sleep apnea." Dr. Joseph Krainin, M.D., a medical advisor at SleepApnea.org, told the Washington Free Beacon that Biden likely suffered from "a certain type of sleep apnea where his brain forgets to breathe during sleep."

There is no mention of sleep apnea in White House physician Dr. Kevin O'Connor's summary of the president's health following Biden's most recent physical in February. Biden's medical records from 2019 revealed that he had several surgeries on his sinus and nasal passage. But surgeries do not always cure patients' sleep apnea, and patients may still need to use a CPAP machine after undergoing an operation, according to Alberta Health Services.

Failing to treat his sleep apnea with a CPAP machine—for more than a decade—may have put Biden at increased risk for dementia, studies show.

That's because untreated sleep apnea leads to intermittent oxygen deprivation in the brain, causing certain brain cells to die. Those brain cells are among the same cells "that we know die in dementia," according to Australian neuroscientist Elizabeth Coulson. As a result, Coulson and her coauthors found in a recent study, untreated sleep apnea can lead to increased risk of dementia.

A 2022 study published in the National Library of Medicine came to a similar conclusion: "Sleep apnea is associated with a significantly increased risk of dementia, particularly for Alzheimer's disease," the study says. A third study, published in the American Academy of Neurology's medical journal in May, found that people "with sleep apnea who spend less time in deep sleep are more likely to have brain health problems that could lead to dementia, Alzheimer's disease, or a stroke."

The revelation will do little to ease concerns over Biden's age and mental fitness. A whopping 68 percent of U.S. voters say Biden is "too old for another term," according to a Yahoo News/YouGov poll released in March. On Wednesday, hours before the White House confirmed Biden's use of a CPAP machine, Biden mistakenly told reporters that Russian president Vladimir Putin is "losing the war in Iraq," rather than Ukraine.

It wasn't the first time Biden has confused the two countries when discussing the Ukraine war. He also repeatedly referred to himself as a U.S. senator since becoming president in 2021. Biden was a senator when he voted to support the Iraq war in 2002.

Mistakes of this nature could be examples of "time-shifting," a common symptom of dementia. "Time-shifting is when a person's experience is that they are living at an earlier time in their life," the U.K.-based Alzheimer's Society writes on its website. "They may become disorientated and confused about time and place."

It's unclear how exactly Biden has treated his sleep apnea for the last 15 years. The White House did not return a request for comment on his history of using a CPAP machine or other sleep apnea treatments.

What happened: President Joe Biden told reporters on Wednesday that Russian strongman Vladimir Putin was "losing the war in Iraq," just hours after making the same gaffe at a campaign fundraiser the night before.

• Russia is fighting a war in Ukraine.

WATCH: Biden Says Putin Is 'Losing the War in Iraq'

Why it matters: Journalists continue to whitewash Biden's alarming cognitive decline by cleaning up his gaffes in their reports.

• The White House pool report from Tuesday evening's fundraiser, authored by Daniel Bush of the once-prominent magazine Newsweek, did not mention Biden's gaffe about Iraq, or the fact that he referred to Indian prime minister Narendra Modi as "my new best friend, the prime minister ... of China."

• The following day, Bloomberg journalist Jenny Leonard quoted Biden as saying Putin was "losing the war," omitting the crucial mistake.

• Biden has made the same gaffe on numerous occasions, and has repeatedly described himself as a U.S. senator since being sworn in as president.

What they're saying: "Time-shifting is when a person’s experience is that they are living at an earlier time in their life," the Alzheimer's Society (U.K.) writes on its website. "They may become disorientated and confused about time and place."

Context: Biden, 80, is the oldest president in American history. He is running for a second four-year term that he is statistically unlikely to survive, according to a Washington Free Beacon analysis.

• The frequency with which Biden commits physical and mental gaffes should be of grave concern to all Americans. Nevertheless, the mainstream media continue to gaslight the American public, insisting this is all perfectly normal. (Fact check: It is not.)

• Democrats and their media allies have similarly colluded to whitewash the garbled nonsense routinely spouted by Sen. John Fetterman (D., Pa.), whose brain may have been permanently damaged after he suffered a near-fatal stroke in May 2022.

Bottom line: Journalists claim they are only interested in the truth and holding the powerful to account. Their behavior when Democrats hold power suggests otherwise.
